Procida
The island of Procida is the lesser know of the three islands situated in the Gulf of Naples. Often overlooked or at least overshadowed by its more illustrious neighbours Ischia and the further distant Capri, this is a sleepy island where peace reigns.
That's not to say Procida is without its own attractions though; it has one of the prettiest sights of anywhere in Italy, the small port of Marina Corricella with its multi-coloured houses adorns the covers of travel guides, postcards and magazines. This, the island's showpiece makes the journey across from the mainland worthwhile in itself but there's much more besides. |
You can reach Procida from Naples, Pozzuoli or Ischia by ferry or hydrofoil. Journey times from the mainland are between 35 and 50 minutes while from Ischia it's 20 minutes on the hydrofoil or 30 minutes by ferry.
